Objectives

  • Develop the Target Technology Architecture that enables the logical and physical application and data components and the Architecture Vision, addressing the Request for Architecture Work and stakeholder concerns
  • Identify candidate Architecture Roadmap components based upon gaps between the Baseline and Target Technology Architectures

Architecture Repository

The AR would store components like:

  • Existing IT services as documented in the IT repository or IT service catalog
  • TOGAF Technical Reference Model (TRM)
  • Generic technology models relevant to the organization's industry "vertical" sector
  • Technology models relevant to Common Systems Architectures

Inputs

Inputs to Technology Architecture are:

  1. outputs from Information Systems Architecture and earlier phases

Steps

Steps in Technology Architecture are:

  1. Select reference models, viewpoints and tools
    • Classify products within the TOGAF TRM
  2. Develop baseline Technology Architecture Description
  3. Develop target Technology Architecture Description
  4. Perform Gap Analysis
  5. Define roadmap components
  6. Resolve impacts across the Architecture Landscape
  7. Conduct formal stakeholder review
  8. Finalize the Technology Architecture
  9. Create the Architecture Definition Document

Outputs

Architecture Deliverable outputs of Technology Architecture are:

  1. TOGAF: Statement of Architecture Work (updated)
  2. Validated technology principles, or new technology principles
  3. Draft TOGAF: Architecture Definition Document (containing updates)
  4. Draft TOGAF: Architecture Requirements Specification (include updates)
  5. Technology Architecture components of an TOGAF: Architecture Roadmap

    • Technology Standards catalog
    • Technology Portfolio catalog
  • Matrices:
    • Application/Technology matrix
  • Diagrams:

Security Adaptations for ADM
